Social Media Strategist

We have an immediate opportunity at our global corporate headquarters in St. Louis for a senior-level social media strategist as part of our award-winning digital communications team.

The lead social strategist plans, manages and executes social media governance and programming for multiple consumer and B-to-B clients across several industries including packaged goods, automotive, restaurants, telecommunications, healthcare and entertainment.  We are looking for an experienced professional who drives business results through applied experience in social listening platforms, in building communities and in engaging online audiences.  He or she understands social networks and can create social programs that target and maximize the reach of brands or specific communications campaigns.   This individual works with other communicators to incorporate social strategies as part of larger integrated programs that include traditional media relations, public relations, websites and other digital activations, advertising and mobile technologies.  The social lead can not only conceive and execute social strategies but also measure their impact and effectiveness. 

As the senior social strategist, he or she will join a St. Louis-based team of more than 200 communicators including 35 online communications specialists and technologists.  The team includes digital strategists; creative services for the web, video, motion and mobile producers; technical application developers; digital marketing leaders and communicators specializing in branding, corporate communications, crisis and issues management, internal communications, investor relations, public affairs, consumer marketing, business-to-business marketing, research and creative services. The St. Louis office is part of Fleishman-Hillard’s Central Region that includes offices in Chicago, Kansas City and Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Profile
• An experienced professional engaged in social networks, digital media, online forums and blogging.
• Knows how to integrate communications strategies across several channels, specifically earned, shared and owned media.
• Skilled in creating social initiatives that meet brand objectives along with increasing web traffic, boosting sales, producing a return on investment and/or demonstrating measurable consumer awareness.
• Familiarity with leading social listening platforms and able to analyze, measure and report on engagement with social programs.
• An avid subject matter expert who is able to educate clients and internal teams on social trends, tools and programs.
• A good listener, a team player, and counselor who can build strong relationships with agency clients, account staff, client relationship leaders and other senior managers in the firm.

Responsibilities
• Visualize, develop and execute social programs as part of larger integrated marketing strategies.
• Develop social media strategies that support the agency’s commitment to creating message-driven communications across a variety of platforms and channels.
• Serve as one of the social media and social business leaders for the agency’s Central Region.
• Advance the agency’s strategic point of view relative to the continuing evolution of social media technologies and techniques and their impact on consumer behaviors, the creation of brand value, and the evolution of the structure of our clients’ markets and internal organizations.
• Direct social media strategy, counsel, tactics and measurement for new business opportunities.
• Analyze social media monitoring tools to identify trends, establish future key messages, gather insights and provide value to clients.
• Supervise, mentor and train a team of social communicators.
• Manage project deliverables, timelines and budgets.
• Engage in ideation, brainstorming and new methods of social media executions.
• Seek out thought leadership opportunities for presenting the agency’s social experiences and point of view.

Qualifications:

• Candidates must have a minimum of eight years of communications experience along with an agency background in integrated marketing, public relations, advertising or digital communications.
• Experience across social media platforms such as microblogging (Twitter) and mobile location-based services (FourSquare) along with content sharing sites including Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and resources such as Quora or other online forums.
• Execution of social media strategy, governance, and programming involving national brands.
• Demonstrated success in integrating social media with broader communications and advertising programs.
• Reputation or influence over online communities through thought leadership.
• Able to explain and recommend digital marketing strategies and analytics.
• Experience in participating in all phases of new business from ideation and program development through to presentation.
• Superior client service skills, able to manage multiple clients and projects.
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
• Experienced in creating and managing project financials, timelines and budgets.
• Proven leadership of clients and account service teams.
