Position Overview and Responsibilities:

Fleishman-Hillard has an immediate opening for an experienced, self-starting communicator with a passion for product and corporate communications.

Along with assisting on corporate and media relations activities, this individual will serve as chief facilitator of product-related communications working with a major automotive corporation.  The position is based on-site at the client’s global headquarters in Detroit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop product communications strategy and related written materials: news releases, key messages, talking points, etc.
  • Non-product communications responsibilities may include memo and speechwriting, executive media coaching and issues management.
  • The position requires experience in strategic communication plan development, counseling clients, and executing outreach to national business and trade journalists.
  • Create and lead internal presentations to senior client executives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client executives and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 6- 10 years of communications experience, either in a PR agency or a corporate PR position.
  • Automotive and product communications experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience executing public relations plans and the ability to draft and implement strategic public relations programs within budget.
  • Proven success working with trade and national business media, as well as bloggers.
  • Experience working with senior-level executives.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in driving new business.
  • In-depth understanding of social media tools and communications tactics.
  • Strong writing/editing skills are required.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to “think ahead” of client and anticipate communications’ needs.
  • Detail-oriented, and knows how to meet a deadline without sacrificing quality.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field.
