FleishmanHillard’s Ashley Simms Named Outstanding Young Professional at Diversity Distinction in PR Awards
ST. LOUIS, September 18, 2017 — Ashley Simms, an account supervisor in FleishmanHillard’s Washington, D.C. office, was named Outstanding Young Professional at this year’s Diversity Distinction in PR Awards, an annual program presented by the PR Council in partnership with PRWeek.
Simms, who joined the firm in 2014, is deeply involved with FH’s diversity initiatives supporting efforts to diversify the public relations industry. She serves as co-lead of the Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship, and works with the Bowie State PRSSA chapter to to help prepare students entering the workforce, represents FH at the yearly PR Council diversity recruiting fair, serves on the agency wide Diversity Council, builds partnerships and hosts events with diverse communications organizations such as ColorComm and the Black Public Relations Society of America. Simms also actively mentors and communicates with every diversity fellow that has worked in the Washington, D.C. Office to help them on their career path.
The Diversity Distinction in PR Awards honor excellence in promoting diversity and inclusion within the communications industry each year. Honorees were announced at an awards gala in New York City on September 14, 2017.
