Public Relations Intern (Spring 2018), New York
Position Overview and Responsibilities
It’s not that we enjoy jumping out of planes. It’s just that big wins don’t happen without taking a few risks. No two companies face exactly the same challenges or opportunities, which is why we believe in carving out the right path for each client.
In our experience, the landscape changes too fast to rely on the “tried and tested.” That said, we do learn from experience. We’ve blazed trails for startups and Fortune 10 companies around the world, and each adventure has inspired us to new ideas.
Do you think of yourself as an early adopter, a self-starter, a beta tester? We’ve been looking for you.
FleishmanHillard New York is seeking qualified candidates for full-time, paid spring internship positions. Interns are an integral part of our teams, giving participants real-life experience and skills that will help them succeed in their communications careers in the future.
Our spring internships offer the opportunity to work with the winner of PRWeek’s Large Agency of the Year 2014 and Best Places to Work 2017, and a team of public relations counselors serving a wide roster of internationally recognized companies. Openings are available across all areas of our business for qualified candidates, including:
- Corporate Reputation & Corporate Responsibility
- Social Media
FH New York interns have the opportunity to gain exposure to a range of public relations skills, including competitive and industry research and analysis, building media lists, media monitoring, writing media materials, developing internal communications materials, social media management, and event planning.
FleishmanHillard believes a diverse team brings a wider range of personal and professional experiences and perspectives. We recognize that diversity and inclusion benefit our agency, our clients, and the communities in which we work and live. To that end, we strongly encourage applications from women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ community, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
The ideal candidates will have graduated and completed college coursework in journalism, public relations, communications or related fields. Successful applicants will possess:
- Excellent communications and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent research, writing and organization skills
- Ability to work easily in both large team environments or independently
- Prior internship experience at a public relations firm or corporate communications department
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn from our industry-leading team of counselors
- This is a full-time (40 hours per week), paid position with the opportunity for extension
FleishmanHillard specializes in public relations, reputation management, public affairs, brand marketing, digital strategy, social engagement and content strategy. We have been named PRWeek’s Global Agency of the Year and Best Places to Work; a “Standout Agency” on Advertising Age’s A-List; NAFE’s “Top 50 Companies for Executive Women” for six years running; and among our firm’s award-winning work we’ve taken home 5 Lions in the past two years at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity. We’re also more motivated by what we can give than what we receive, and in our 70th year we’ve initiated a worldwide service commitment to support social inclusion in the communities in which we work and live.
