The Turkish Embassy to the United States engaged FleishmanHillard to help enhance and clarify Turkey’s foreign policy objectives and actions with U.S. policy leaders and to foster a better public understanding of Turkey-related issues.
While initial plans called for a traditional public affairs campaign that featured media relations, stakeholder development, speaking engagements and speechwriting, the mandate quickly expanded. FleishmanHillard instituted and managed a fast-growing social media program through Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and even Instagram.
The campaign also sought to build support for Turkey by promoting its culture, and not just its policy positions, including the organization of numerous Embassy cultural events that reach the Washington community and beyond. Among the most notable of these is the Ertegun Jazz Series, which commemorates the Turkish Embassy’s historical connection to jazz.
