Crisis at the Speed of Social

Cully Eisenbeis

Only 20% of Fortune 1000 companies have a plan in place to address a social media crisis – even the smallest crisis can cost companies as much at $4.5M. The session will outline the three basic components of social crisis management – People, Platforms, Process. The majority of attention will be on the process (or system) by which companies can prepare for, mitigate and recover from issues which arise on social, are a direct result of social or are amplified by social. The session will culminate in a case study that details how each function within a communications group worked to mitigate and ultimately rectify a crisis which was started by activists on social media.

Social Media Crisis Management Panel

The explosion of digital media and social platforms has naturally led to a rise in the relationship between a brand and their consumers. With that comes the occasional social media crisis that we may have to engage with as marketers. Brands should have a plan in place to avoid a social media crisis to help stop reputational damage before it escalates.

However, sometimes the best laid plans can explode. At times like this, you need a social media crisis management strategy in place before things go too far and damage your brand. Come to our session to hear from leaders in the industry who will help answer your questions around planning, addressing and even what not to do in a social media crisis with your brand.
