We asked account director, Amity Harrold about her experience working in the Brand Marketing team at FleishmanHillard UK, what she includes in her working from home ritual and her advice for others trying to get into the PR industry.

Hi Amity! What has been your new work from home ritual?

Recently I’ve brought back my favourite part of the old commute – walking to get coffee each morning. Leaving the house however briefly really helps me transition into work mode.

What new skill have you flexed in lockdown?

So far it was just a one off with expert supervision (and technically not during lockdown), but I distilled my own bottle of gin. Truly an invaluable skill!

What shows have you been binging on lately?

I spent a couple of months re-watching The Office (the US version). Not sure if that was some form of unconscious nostalgia for office life.

What do you love about working at FH London?

The people. Particularly the way everyone has supported each other over the last year.

What’s the most valuable skill used in your role?

Since working from home, I’d say communication. We’ve had to learn new ways to interact with everyone—from colleagues to clients, journalists and suppliers. I’d like to think people across the world now have more empathy ‘at’ work and have broken down some old school workplace barriers for good.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Seeing a big idea come to life and delivering change or results for a client.

What’s your advice to someone wanting to get into the industry?

Give everything a go. You won’t work out what you love doing until you’ve worked out what you don’t.

What’s your go-to karaoke tune?

Something from the ABBA archives, they’re a universal crowd pleaser.
