Healthcare in the Trump Era: Politics, Policy and People
On June 21, FleishmanHillard in Washington, D.C. hosted an expert roundtable “Healthcare in the Trump Era: Politics, Policy and People” to address the change underway – from politics to policy – and its impact on the American people. Hosted at the National Press Club and moderated by Mark Senak, partner in FleishmanHillard’s healthcare practice, the event brought together leading policy experts from both sides of the aisle, including Allyson Schwartz, CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance and former U.S. Congresswoman (D-Pa); Matt Salo, Executive Director of the National Association of Medicare Directors; and Jim Gerlach, CEO of Business-Industry Political Action Committee and former U.S. Congressman (R-PA). The roundtable provided those who attended with a timely inquiry and exploration into some of the more perplexing aspects of America’s healthcare system, and the many conversations surrounding its reform. A major point of agreement from our expert guests: bipartisanship and cooperation are imperative to any progress that will be made in strengthening the healthcare industry, a sector that is responsible for approximately 18% of the country’s GDP and that affects all of our daily lives.
