As demand grows for slimmer, sleeker electronic devices, so too does the demand for the coin lithium batteries that power them. But also growing is the risk a child will swallow one of these batteries, which can lead to serious injury or death.
Energizer stepped up to address this little-known risk and called on FleishmanHillard to help. In partnership with Safe Kids Worldwide, “The Battery Controlled” campaign promoted awareness and action through traditional and social media and community outreach, engaging more than 240 national and local partners and generating a potential reach of more than 220 million in the first year. In only six months, more than two-thirds of parents were aware of the severity of the risk, up 28 percent from the benchmark.
