The National Association for Female Executives Names FleishmanHillard One of the 2020 “Top 10 Companies for Executive Women”
March 3, 2020
Share
This is the Fifth Consecutive Year for the Agency in the Top 10, and 11th Year on the List
ST. LOUIS, March 3, 2020 – FleishmanHillard has been named one of the 2020 NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE). NAFE and Working Mother continue to explore ways to move more women into top positions, while highlighting the successes at these trailblazing companies.
This list recognizes U.S. companies that have a strong focus on best practices that move women to senior ranks, including mentoring, sponsorship, involvement in employee-resource groups and leadership-development training. The list also highlights company benefits and corporate cultures of accountability for gender-equity results, including the involvement of the CEO and top leaders in advancing women. The NAFE Top 70 Companies, released today, is featured in the April/May issue of Working Mother. The full report on this year’s winners is listed here.
“The women at FleishmanHillard are leaders, mentors and change agents. Their perspectives, expertise, resolve and dedication to our clients and each other are what make us successful,” said John Saunders, president and CEO of FleishmanHillard. “We’re proud to be recognized by NAFE for the 11th straight year, as we continue to grow our culture of inclusion and diverse perspectives.”
The 2020 NAFE honor is a testament to FleishmanHillard’s ongoing initiatives to appoint, support and recognize women in leadership. Examples of these efforts include:
Women being appointed to 12 of the 23 seats on the FleishmanHillard Cabinet, the senior leadership team charged with advancing the firm’s most strategic priorities.
Women holding half of the roles within the C-suite.
Women holding more than half of the regional leadership positions, including president, APAC; president, Greater China; deputy CEO, FleishmanHillard Fishburn; and president, FleishmanHillard HighRoad.
Female leaders overseeing more than half of FleishmanHillard’s global practice and sector groups, including the Brand and Consumer Marketing, Reputation Management, Sports and TRUE Global Intelligence practice groups; and the Food, Agriculture and Beverage, Healthcare and Technology sector groups.
Women earned three-quarters (74%) of global senior-level promotions in 2019.
Women leading 63% of offices worldwide, including 10 of our 15 highest growth offices.
“Our research ‘The Gender Gap at the Top: What’s Keeping Women from Leading Corporate America’ uncovered the alarming fact that men — not women — are being trained and selected for the revenue-generating positions that lead to the top job,” said Dr. Betty Spence, president, NAFE. “At the NAFE Top Companies, we do report small increases in women running major operations and moving into the C-suite, and we encourage all companies to focus on gender equity in their succession planning.”
“The 2020 NAFE Top Companies continue to tell the story of what organizations are doing to move women into executive positions by communicating the value of P&L roles and ensuring equity in executive succession planning,” said Subha V. Barry, president, Working Mother Media. “However, corporate America is finally beginning to realize that there is still much work to do. There are still too few women with this experience, but the NAFE Top Companies continue to pave the way for the advancement of women.”
Methodology: The 2020 NAFE Top 70 Companies application includes more than 200 questions on topics including female representation at all levels, but especially the corporate officer and profit-and-loss leadership ranks. The application tracks and examines how many employees have access to programs and policies that promote advancement of women and how many employees take advantage of them, plus how companies train managers to help women advance. To be considered, companies must have a minimum of two women on their boards of directors, a U.S.-based CEO and at least 1,000 U.S. employees.
